This is one of the first paintings in a new series of pigeons on sculptures. The best part of this series is it gives me a chance to jump back into my portraiture practice and I get to tell a bigger story with my pigeon art. These are crowning Gertrude with a dandelion crown. Gertrude Stein is posed in a Buddha like pose in this sculpture by Joe Davidson. This is a smaller bronze version of the original terra cotta piece. Stein was a huge supporter of many artists in her time holding frequent salons in Paris.
