It started with a toddler, a plate of spaghetti, and an inexplicable decision to wear it as a hat. JJ's daughter had a lifelong habit of placing the first bite of every meal on top of her head like a crown — and somewhere between laughing and reaching for a napkin, an artist was born. Combine that origin story with years spent working alongside the animal kingdom at the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, and the result is inevitable: a cast of gloriously dignified animals, each wearing their dinner with the confidence of royalty. The Arty Pigeon & Friends is JJ's most collected body of work — and her most joyful.
